DETAILS |
Complete
|
Harry is a complete food formulated for the special
needs of Hamsters. |
Balanced |
As long as
selective feeding is discouraged, hamsters being fed Harry Hamster will receive a balanced
diet. Nutrients are present in the correct quantity, and are in the correct ratio
to the energy content and other nutrients. |
Processing |
Many of the ingredients within Harry
are processed (pelleted, flaked, rolled, extruded) to improve their digestibility whilst
retaining a natural appearance.
|
Quality Ingredients |
Only the
highest quality cereals, legumes, forages and oils are used in a fixed formulation. On the packet the ingredients themselves are
declared rather than categories of ingredients, so the owner knows exactly what they are
buying. |
Naked Oats |
Hamsters have very delicate cheek pouches, which can
easily be damaged by materials that they want to hoard, whether food or bedding. The outer husks of oats can be quite sharp and
so Supreme use naked oats in Harry Hamster instead. |
Coccidiostat
Free |
Harry contains no coccidiostats, nor is it produced on a line where
coccidiostats are used. Coccidiostats may be
damaging to hamsters, just as they are to guinea pigs. |
Vitamins &
Minerals
|
Harry is supplemented with vitamins and minerals.
Supreme incorporates vitamins and minerals into the extrusions, rather than into the
pellets which are often refused. (bitter metallic taste deters animals from eating them).
Hamsters have a slightly different vitamin and mineral requirement profile to other
rodents, and hence Harry contains higher levels of Vitamin A, D, E and copper. Many of the
minerals that Supreme use are in the sulphate form, as these are more readily available to
the animal than its respective oxide. |
Shelf-life
|
1 year. |
Stimulation and Dental Challenge |
Harry contains
a variety of ingredients, which encourages natural foraging behaviour, and hence provides
a degree of enrichment to the hamster. Ingredients
like the whole peanuts require the outer fibrous material to be gnawed through prior to
receiving a reward the peanut. The different shapes, sizes and textures require different biting and chewing
motions and also pressures to break them down, and so they may help to prevent dental
overgrowth. |
Carbohydrates |
There are
moderate levels of starch and fibre in Harry, and very low levels of sugar. |
Meat Protein |
Harry Hamster contains poultry meat meal to supplement
their diet with meat proteins, just as they would naturally do in the wild. |
Fat |
Harry
contains moderate levels of fat. These are
predominantly unsaturated (derived from plant sources).
Levels of linoleic acid within the product are elevated by the inclusion of alfalfa
pellets, soya oil and Hipro soya pellet. |
