Give Cosy Cuddles this Winter to keep your Bunny Bouncing

It can be hard visiting your pets when it’s rainy and dark especially when they live outside, but don’t let it become a chore.  During the cold winter months small animals need extra warmth and cuddles to keep them happy and healthy.  For a happy pet this winter follow these useful hints and tips from Nick Thomas, the Pet Health and Care Expert at Supreme Petfoods and resident expert on the www.smallanimaladvice.com website.

Cosy not Cold
Moving hutches inside or into the shed during the cooler period will prevent small animals from getting a chill.  Ensure your pet has enough bedding and protection from the cold at all times.  If you move your pet to a shed or garage, keep the area well ventilated so the air can reach your pet.

Avoid the Chill
Make sure your animals have plenty of food and water over the winter months.  Water can freeze during colder periods so check your pets bottle regularly.  Treats will also keep your small animal happy.  But don’t forget, treats are so called because that's just what they should be - a "treat". Small animals will love them, and if fed correctly they are not detrimental to their health. However, treats are designed to be an extremely small element of the animal's diet, and overfeeding may lead to problems such as obesity, dental problems and heart disease.

Snuggles & Cuddles
Lots of cuddles and attention will also keep small animals content and warm.  This will also help to strengthen the bond between you and your pet.
