Hi! Im Gerri Gerbil. Whats your name? Dont mind me being nosy, its all part of being a gerbil. We make great pets but you have to be fast to keep up with us. If were asleep, forget it, we dont want to play, we just want to sleep. BUT, if were awake watch out, lets play non stop!

Gerbils are a bit shy at first so Ill need to get to know you. Always handle us gently and dont make any sudden movements. Well soon learn to trust you and then youll see just how friendly and nosy we really are!

Were very sociable animals and get lonely and unhappy if we are kept alone. Were really easy to look after and, in the wild, we always live in colonies of equal numbers so you should really get at least two of us. We want lots and lots of room to run around and play and prefer plastic or glass cages. We love to dig, burrow and scatter our bedding around, so make sure you get a cage with a deep base itll save you having to clean up after us!


Well, Gerri, you sound like great fun to have around. Ill make sure you get a really large cage and then we can play together every day. Ill also try to make sure that you have another gerbil in with you to keep you company when Im not around. Perhaps Id better find another female to keep you company, or else I might end up with lots and lots of gerbils because you could have up to 10 pups!
