FastNet Year 2000 Compliance Issues

FastNet International supplies Internet connection and a range of services connected with the Internet. The suppliers of our hardware and software have issued statements of millennium compliance. Since all of our systems use a 4 digit date code we anticipate no problems. FastNet International accepts no liability for and does not guarantee that software or hardware supplied or manufactured by a third party is millennium compliant. FastNet supplies software for IBM compatible Personal Computers running Microsoft Windows 3.x, Windows 95, Windows NT4.0 and Windows 98. The software supplied is subject to the compliance of the Operating System and the compliance statement of Microsoft.

Microsoft has produced statements of compliance and the major limitations on date handling seem to be with DOS and Windows 3.x.

For full details of y2k issues with Microsoft refer to

http://www.microsoft.com/technet/topics/year2k/product/product.htm

Intel has also produced a site with information about their product range. Please see

http://support.intel.com/support/year2000/status.htm

Apple has produced a very upbeat assessment on compliance at

http://www.apple.com/macos/information/2000.html

The IBM site is less than informative and Cyrix seems to have little in the way of a compliance statement. Once we have a compliance statement from our Electricity Suppliers, Telephone Suppliers, and etc we will publish links as appropriate.
