Festive Furries

With only 10 days left till Christmas, you may have sorted out all your human family and friends, but what about those important small furries in your life? Don’t forget to put them on your list!

In true festive spirit, Supreme Petfoods – maker of the well-known Russel Rabbit, Gerty Guinea Pig, Harry Hamster, Gerri Gerbil, Reggie Rat and Charlie Chinchilla products – has produced a gift list, which every small pet will go wild for!

  1. Treat your small pet without spoiling him. Supreme’s new range of 11 delicious treats - such as Popcorn Stickle Treats, Reggie Rat’a’Chewy and Russel Carrot Cruncher – are the perfect animal alternative to mince pies!

  2. Your pet would love some new toys at Christmas, and they don’t have to be expensive. Why not make an adventure playground for your pet using old cardboard tubes and boxes? These are easily replaced if they get chewed and you can change the layout, so your pet won’t get bored.

  3. If you have a hamster, then an exercise wheel will make an ideal present - did you know that most hamsters will run on a wheel for an average of three to four hours every night?

  4. For those pet owners who find cage or hutch cleaning a chore – why not buy an all-purpose hutch cleaner, to help keep you pet’s home clean and hygienic?

  5. If you really want to spoil your pet, why not consider buying him a new hutch or cage. Remember, a cage can be too small, but it can never really be too big.

  6. Or why not fix up your pet’s existing home if it’s in need of running repairs. For instance, if you have a rabbit living outside, then make sure that the hutch roof is lined with roofing felt to prevent it leaking.

  7. Throughout the winter, rabbits living outdoors need plenty of warm bedding to help shelter them from the elements. You may get a nice new jumper for Christmas, so get your pet some soft, warm and fluffy bedding to help keep him cosy too!

  8. Why not review your pet’s diet in time for the New Year. Many people don’t realise what a crucial role diet plays in the well being of their pets, and with New Year’s resolutions just around the corner, now is a great time to start afresh.

  9. Finally, one of the most important things you can give your pet at Christmas – and throughout the winter - is your time and your company. It’s important that you spend time with your pet every day, not just cleaning the cage and feeding and grooming your pet, but time playing with your pet and enjoying his company.
